Photobiomodulation within a rehabilitation plan
Laser therapy uses focused light to stimulate cellular activity. ARK’s existing clinical information explains that therapy laser light acts on mitochondria within cells, supporting blood flow, tissue healing and the modulation of inflammation.
The modality may also encourage endorphin release, support nerve regeneration and ease the perception of pain. It can be used alone or alongside exercise, hydrotherapy, acupuncture or other rehabilitation techniques when indicated.
What the treatment is used to support
ARK lists senior arthritis, muscle or tendon strain, cruciate ligament rupture, back pain, nerve pain and non-healing wounds among the cases in which laser therapy may be considered. The treatment area and plan are selected after assessment.
Laser therapy is not presented as a guaranteed cure. The team evaluates the pet’s condition and determines whether it is appropriate as part of the overall plan.
